IOSH Approved Local Exhaust Ventilation Testing

1 day – Public Course

Description and objective:

Occhnet is the sole provider of this IOSH approved course for Local Exhaust Ventilation Testing.

This course aims to give the delegate the basic skills to enable them to demonstrate thorough testing and examination of local exhaust ventilation systems as required by COSHH.

The course will provide both theory and some practical elements with full course notes supplied.

Delegates will undertake an end of course assessment and on successful completion shall receive an IOSH certificate.

COSHH Assessors Training Course

1 day – Public Course

Description and objective:

This assessor training will enable the participants to carry out COSHH assessments within the workplace.

The delegates will consider:

  • health surveillance,
  • occupational monitoring,
  • control measures,
  • suitability and;
  • record-keeping.

This 1-day course includes lunch, coffee, and refreshments and will run from 9:30 to 15:30.

Environmental Awareness Training

Half-day – Public Course

Description and objective:

This Environmental Awareness training will give the participants an appreciation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Environmental Legislation requirements of industry today.

The delegates will consider:

  • EMS,
  • environmental aspects and impacts,
  • sustainability and;
  • environmental permitting.

IOSH Managing Safely

Suitable for managers and supervisors from any organisation or sector who are required to manage efficiently and effectively in compliance with both an organisation’s safety policy and current health and safety legislation.

Concentrating on training the manager to supervisor to apply sound management principles to safety and health issues in their team as part of a total management strategy, this modular course can be tailored to meet business requirements.

Course Content
The IOSH Managing Safely follows a set syllabus arranged into seven modules:

1. Introducing Managing Safely
2. Understanding Your Responsibilities
3. Identifying Hazards
4. Assessing Risks
5. Controlling Risks
6. Investigating Accidents and Incidents
7. Measuring Performance.

Course Objectives

On completion of this program candidates will be able to:

  • Apply basic management principles and practices to health and safety issues,
  • Set practicable health and safety objectives and be able to plan and implement courses to achieve those objectives,
  • Recognise risks present in the workplace and be able to select appropriate control measures,
  • Take account of the risks posed by human factors,
  • Ensure that adequate information, instruction, training, and supervision is provided within the workplace,
  • Investigate all incidents involving injury or damage in order to determine the causes and to take appropriate remedial actions,
  • Communicate effectively on health and safety issues with superiors, work people, and health and safety professionals

The examination consists of:
o Multiple-choice and short answer test paper of 25 questions
o A practical project.

The IOSH Managing Safely training course requires a minimum of 22-hrs teaching time and can be delivered on either a 3 or 4-day basis with the choice of consecutive days or weekly delivery.

Noise Awareness Course

Description and objective: This course gives delegates an awareness of the requirements of the Noise at Work Regulations and how to comply.

Delegates will consider:

  • health surveillance,
  • noise measurement,
  • control measures
  • selection of hearing protection and;
  • record-keeping

Half-day course will run from 09:30 – 13:00

Risk Assessment Training Course

1 day – Public Course

Description and objective: This Risk assessor training will enable the participants to carry out basic risk assessments within the workplace in accordance with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.

The delegates will consider:

  • legislation,
  • assessment methods,
  • information gathering,
  • risk evaluation and;
  • record-keeping.

This 1-day course includes lunch, coffee, and refreshments and will run from 9:30 to 15:30.

Respiratory Sensitisers

Half-day – Public Course

Description and objective:

Occupational Asthma can be a serious problem. More than 200 substances have been reported as triggers for occupational asthma.

In the western world, it is thought than 200,000 people suffer from occupational asthma, and a further 500,000 have asthma that may be made worse by their job.

Occupational asthma is a common cause of work-related illness.

This half-day seminar discusses respiratory sensitisers in the workplace.

Half-day course will run from 09:30 – 13:00

Chemical Hazard Awareness Training

Half-day – Public Course

Description and objective:

This chemical hazard awareness training will enable the participants to recognise chemical hazards within the workplace and follow the correct procedures to work safely.

The delegates will consider:

  • COSHH assessment,
  • employees duties,
  • correct use of control measures,
  • GHS symbols and;
  • effects on the body.

Half-day course will run from 09:30 – 12:30

Asbestos Awareness Short Course

Description and objective:

Asbestos awareness training is required for employees whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos.

In particular, it should be given to all demolition workers and those workers in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades where it is foreseeable that their work will disturb the fabric of the building.

The course will provide an awareness and development of knowledge to employees of the hazards and risks posed by asbestos-containing materials (ACM’s) within their everyday working environment and an overview of the legislative measures in place to safeguard themselves and others affected by work activities.

Short Course will run from 09:30 – 11:30
